The Raw University By Devin Ferguson

About Me

So what's the reality of college? Do the books have it right?

Follow along and find out.

I'm a USF student. I have been going to school on and off for since 2001. Rather than take out huge loans, I work and pay cash for my education. At times bureaucracy has hindered my advancement, and sometimes it was money that slowed things down. Lately I got married and took advantage of a down real estate market to buy my first house. Now, after four years it's time to head back to school and finish what I started.

A little older, a little wiser, and having spread my collegiate experience over a decade, I've witnessed first hand how our educational system has changed. Costs have gone up, tuition's gone up, and textbook prices have skyrocketed. I've decided to document facts and my opinions about the "college experience."

I'm married, and I drive over 100 miles round trip to go to school each day. There's not much time for partying or hanging out around campus without reason. I won't be writing about crazy frat parties, keg stands, or who's sleeping with who. Instead I'll be focusing critically on day to day college events. The kind of events a person who is serious about getting in and getting out would talk about. I'll be commenting on the behavior of staff, students, events, and special guests.

I'm slightly older than the average college student. While going to college I've worked for some of the largest companies in the world, and have more work experience than most across a multitude of different industries.  I've been exposed to fussy formal corporate cultures as well as the most casual . I'll try to remain as objective as possible, but sometimes situations are so messed up, you just gotta vent a little.
